Our Founder

Brenda Lovelady Spahn has been the heart of The Lovelady Center for its entire existence. She has received numerous awards and recognitions including the NBC13 Making a Difference award and the Jeremiah 29:11 Humanitarian Award. She was featured on the DirecTV Hometown Heroes program and was a guest on LIFE Today as well as The 700 Club. In 2012 Tennessee Temple University awarded her an honorary doctorate in Humanitarian Studies.

In 2015 Brenda authored a book with Irene Zutell titled, Miss Brenda and the Loveladies, telling the incredible story of the founding of The Lovelady Center. It will soon be a major motion picture with worldwide distribution. It is Brenda’s desire for the world to see that formerly incarcerated women can and certainly do change their lives for the better and become assets to their communities.

"Miss Brenda" is married to Jeff Spahn and has five children, 22 grandchildren, and thousands of reformed women across the nation who call her "Mama."
